Ezaz-e-Niswan Development Organizaion Sargodha (EDO) Ezaz-e-Niswan Development organization (EDO) started in June 2006. The EDO has been working with rural based women in 5 villages of District Sargodha. EDO initatives are for the development of marginalized families through services to the women and children. The 1st initative was to hold a survey on dropout children, then motivate of mother to put their children in the schools nearby. Within 8 months EDO had developed sisterly relations with women. The attitude of women towards change and development of the family was a hopeful sign, therefore, the EDO made choice to work with women of all faiths. So, since June 2007, the EDO has been working with rural based women (Farm workers) in 10 villages and 10 schools of Sargodha District. The project being undertaken is Peace Building through "Raising Human Rights Awareness among Women and Children". We worked with 4 and 5 class children with the help of their teachers also influenced school management and staff for gaining human rights orientation. We have been promoting interfaith harmony through sports among school children in the same villages where we work with women. With women our activities are monthly meetings on local and world issues on the situation of women, sharing stories, mutual listening, building sisterhood spirit, gaining voice and sharing their concern on gender issues. We strongly condemn the 2 blasts in Lahore and pray for the suffering Christians in the hospital. May God grant eternal rest to the departed souls and peace and consolation to the families that lost their dear ones. Let us protest in a way that is moderate and nonviolent. United we stand for our rights and security. United we encounter violence and terrorism. May peace prevail in Pakistan and among all of us.
